The project focused on developing a smart parking planning and management solution for the city of Surat through an open-network-based digital parking ecosystem. The assignment aimed to create an integrated parking framework combining parking operations, payment systems, enforcement mechanisms, and urban mobility management into a unified platform.
The proposed system explored integration with RTO databases, Smart City ITS infrastructure, and Traffic Police ITS systems to support real-time parking monitoring, digital payment integration, vehicle identification, enforcement support, and data-driven parking management. The project also included planning for demand assessment, parking operations strategy, user access and charging mechanisms, and implementation frameworks for scalable citywide deployment.
A pilot implementation has been proposed to Surat Municipal Corporation for a six-month operational trial in 2026 to evaluate system performance, interoperability, user adoption, and urban mobility impact. Preparation is underway.
